So you may be wondering, "Who is this guy?" Well, I'm a Systems Engineer at a high-tech company near Portland, Oregon. [You can visit it at www.infocus.com.] I'm in my mid-thirties and really enjoy going to Europe (as if you didn't know that already!). I've always enjoyed photography and writing but am not a fanatic about either one.
Since you've managed to get this deep into my site, I'll share with you the philosophy I relied on in order to make it. You see, I'm attempting to advance the state-of-the-art of scrapbooks; doing so in a way that tries to make it just as easy as turning a page in a good book, yet allowing the discovery of much more within. I felt that there must be a better way to convey one's travel experiences than photo albums and slide shows (sorry, Rick!) which eventually just sit on a shelf gathering dust; and I thought that if I could "enhance" one with all kinds of interesting content, then this "journey" would remain compelling visit after visit. The site is intentionally not a cookie-cutter copy of anything else out there (in fact I purposely did not put a list of hyperlinks in a left-hand column), and I'm sure it could be optimized further since it's only my first try. If you've got any ideas, please email them to me.
Please be sure to check out (if you have a fast connection speed or 56k patience) my video of the tour, which is my other attempt at making a compelling scrapbook. I made a video like it for my first Europe tour which all my companions loved, and this one I think came out really well, too. Click the red "The Video" cobblestone above.
